{{:flagday.jpg?direct&900|}}\\ The FCARC participated for the first time in the 67th Annual Appleton Flag Day parade. Our goal was to promote amateur radio to the community, and attract more people to the hobby. We had a beautiful day and our entry was very successful as one will see from the pictures and TV video. Many people remarked positively about the matching patriotic shirts we wore. Being hams, we talk to people. An informal rag chew net ran throughout the parade route. All conversations were clearly amplified and heard by patrons on both sides of the street. Even the TV announcer remarked about it. The planning started in November, 2016. An FCARC team of three handled the details. They were Joel Kasper WI4WD, Larry Peterson WA9TT (chairman) and Karen Thorne WB9ZNA. You may refer to the planning document and materials sent to the Flag Day Parade Committee seeking approval for the club's entry. We were awarded position #84. Many hams volunteered to take part in this parade. {{:coilmobile_3.jpg?direct &900|}}\\ {{:flag11.jpg?direct|}}\\{{:flag1.jpg?direct&450|}}{{:flag2.jpg?direct&450|}}\\ Terry Schilling N9AOT, and wife Peggy, drove the Coilmobile, owned by Wolf River Coils.\\ {{:flag8.jpg?direct&450|}}{{:flag12.jpg?direct&450|}}\\ KC Ross KG9JP and Gary Hoehne KB9AIT were banner bearers.\\ {{:flag5.jpg?direct&450|}}{{:flag10.jpg?direct&450|}}{{:flag7.jpg?direct&450|}}{{:flag9.jpg?direct&450|}}Dave Sprangers ND9DW and his 14-year-old son, Noah KC9YXX, operated bicycle mobile.A nicely decorated trailer was in tow with Bernie Hengels N9YMC and his wife, Dar Hengels KB9JGW, operating the net over the club's 443.650 MHz repeater.
